Convention 2016 offers a broad range of wonderful choices for choral leaders of all kinds, with a total of 30 options to choose from.
We have even more repertoire sessions than before, including music for SATB, upper voices of all ages, SAB and ideas for that all important Christmas music planning. There are sessions on voice technique for all conductors wanting to give their singers of all ages helpful and practical tips. For those wanting practical advice on conducting technique, there are masterclass sessions at Intermediate and Advanced level, a 'back to basics' session for those starting out or wanting a refresher, and of course our Pre-Convention course, running from 25-26 August. For those working with young singers, there are sessions on music and movement and using the Kodaly approach, as well as helpful tips for running youth choirs and lots of repertoire ideas.
In addition, two key threads run through the weekend: our interaction with the broader choral 'world' and women as choral leaders. There are sessions on pop music, gospel music, exploring music of different faiths and cultures, recording your choir and more. Don't miss our panel session on Sunday, with some of our leading women composers and conductors.
