Papers are welcome at any time covering aspects of choral singing that fall within the remit of the journal.
The editor-in-chief will evaluate suitability of the article for the journal, aiming to give a decision with 48 hours. The article will then be sent to two peer reviewers and returned with a decision as quickly as possible, ideally within two months although the process may sometimes take up to six months given the commitments of reviewers.
Articles may report original research, a synthesis of existing research, or scholarly discussion of any relevant topic. Normal length should be between 6000 and 8000 words, although shorter research reports, particularly where scientific data are included, will also be published. There will also be a section for the scholarly review of new books and publications in the field of choral singing. Articles which report any form of work involving human subjects must include a statement about how ethical approval was obtained.
Articles are made available in downloadable .pdfs format which can include links to illustrative audio samples or video clips. Given the subject matter of the journal, these are particularly welcome. The journal requires Chicago referencing which allows both Author-Dates system (AD) or Notes Bibliography system (NB). You are welcome to use either AD or NB systems according to the customary practice of your discipline. The journal accepts either so long as they conform to the Chicago system. You may find this site helpful.
Text must be submitted in MS WORD format, single spaced and justified, using the template that can be downloaded here. Tables and figures must be supplied as separate good quality .jpg files with the approximate place of insertion indicated in the text as per the template. Audio files (if any) must be supplied in .mp3 format as e-mail attachments. Videos must be supplied as embed codes or links to a hosting site such as Youtube or Vimeo. Video access must be set so that the video returns to the opening thumbnail on completion of play.
Two versions of the text must be supplied. The first should have all clues to the author's identity removed and will be used for peer review. The second should be as the article will appear when converted to .pdf format as per the supplied template. A title page must be supplied as a separate file with the following information:
If an article is accepted for publication, the lead author will be required to complete and return a publication agreement.
